Lancashire County Council has published its adult social care Local Account for 2025/26, “Living Better Lives in Lancashire”. The Local Account is the council’s yearly, plain-English report on how adult social care is performing and where it needs to do better.

The report was introduced in a short film featuring Cllr Tom Pickup, Burnley’s county councillor and Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, alongside Cllr Martyn Sutton and Cllr Daniel Matchett.

Among the points highlighted for the year were reducing waiting times for support, strengthening partnerships with health services, and improving the council’s approach to safeguarding, together with an honest acknowledgement of the areas that still need work.

Adult social care is one of the largest things the county council does and one of the biggest pressures on its budget. Reporting openly on what is working and what is not is the right way to do it, and it lets residents hold the council to account.
